Women’s International Stone Alliance – WISA

Women’s International Stone Alliance – WISA

WISA was established in 2019 by an international group of women working in traditional stone trades (dry stoners, carvers, masons, sculptors etc), who are keen to connect with and support other women also involved, or those keen to give it a try. The primary purpose of the alliance is to:

  • Raise the profile of women’s contribution to the trades

  • Encourage and inspire

  • Advocate across relevant industries

  • Run conferences and events

  • Build community

In 2020, WISA conducted a survey which was completed by 149 women from 12 countries with a range of stone trades or relevant interests. The results of the survey and subsequent feedback guides WISA's goals and activities. Click here for the WISA survey

WISA approaches its goals by 'creating change one stone at a time'. Much has been achieved with much still to do, and a lot of exciting opportunities in the pipeline. To find out more, get involved or become a member visit www.womenstonealliance.com

"Walling to me is wholly engaging. It’s my gym, my art class, my mindfulness session and my trip to the country all rolled into one. It requires time, precision and order, patience, resilience, and attention to detail. It connects the past with the future and delivers a beautiful, sustainable structure and unrivalled sense of pride and satisfaction".
